There challenge between RAI and the world of Warner Bros. Discovery has come to life, we understand it by now. The arrival of Amadeus in the team has certainly sparked spirits, even if it is not just the promise of NOVE’s future schedule, the channel chosen by the presenter for his future career, to give public television a run for its money. Who, in this period, between illustrious farewells, slip-ups and controversies, does not seem to be going through one of his best periods. Fabio Fazio also thinks about throwing more or less veiled digs at RAI on a weekly basis What’s the weather like, which seems to have become the favorite confessional of public TV repentants. In the April 28 episode, for example, the host hosted Antonio Scuratifresh from the alleged blackout of his monologue on April 25th in the program What will be… by Serena Bortone. A way to put an end to (or fuel?) a still very heated political debate. Also guest Francesca Fagnani, busy with the promotion of her new book Mala. Criminal Rome (SEM): the host of Beasts she ironically lent herself to Luciana Littizzetto’s jokes, who obviously played on Fagnani’s migration from NOVE to Rai Due (while there is talk of a counter-move of the presenter in the autumn).
Not only that: during the episode Fazio also welcomed the journalist’s moving confession Franco Di Mare, who revealed that he had an incurable tumor due to exposure to asbestos and that he had been abandoned by RAI after many years of work for having requested the Service Status, i.e. the list of places visited as a war correspondent where he could having contracted the disease. The journalist said he had been abandoned by «the whole of Rai, by all the management groups. I understand that there are trade union and legal reasons, but I can’t understand the absence on a human level, people to whom I addressed informally who denied themselves on the phone. I find only one adjective: è repugnant». The interview predictably aroused much disturbance and indignation in the social media public.
And Fabio Fazio, while the digs at RAI go crazy, what does he do? He remains impassive, he acts as a super-partes host who listens to the outbursts of his guests and welcomes everyone, from outcasts to guaranteed hype characters like Chiara Ferragni. He doesn’t go unbalanced, he doesn’t judge, he doesn’t foment: Fazio listens and smiles, leaving his guests the task of dissecting problems and controversies without ever going unbalanced. His questions seem impalpable, but they are not: they neither dig nor annoy, but they certainly satisfy the curiosity of the audience at home. In this period of cold war between RAI and the goose that lays the golden eggs Discovery, ready to become the third center of information and television entertainment in Italy, What’s the weather like it is the living room of hearts broken by public television. And the antechamber, perhaps, of the changes that we will see starting from September.
