His experience was shared during an interview with Mara Venier on “Domenica In”where Magalli told how a chance infection led him to discover the disease.

Initially the diagnosis was so harsh that the doctors left him life expectancy of only two months.

«The illness caught me off guard and arrived unexpectedly. Then one inside the other, a kind of matryoshka. The serious one, which put me in danger, was lymphoma. They gave me two months to livebut they also told me that lymphomas have a 90% chance of being cured”, explained the host. The discovery was possible thanks to aun infection which, paradoxically, turned out to be an unexpected fortuneallowing him to start treatment promptly, including chemotherapy and hospital admissions.

His fight was not only a personal challenge but also involved the people closest to him. Married twice and father of two daughters, Magalli was able to count on the help of his entire family. His ex-wives and daughters took turns at his bedside in hospital, supporting him in the most difficult moments. «For the infection they gave me some medicines that I don’t know what they were, I think hallucinogenic mushrooms, I had visions, I saw people walking around the room, I was completely out of it. I’ve also done things like ripped out my IV and the doctors said, “Either we tie him up or someone has to watch him, but we don’t have any staff,” so one night there was my first wife, one night my second, then my first daughter, the second… and they were careful that I didn’t act crazy. I was moved by this closeness”Magalli said emotionally.
