Swiss design with 100 seats

A hospital, in the old furnace section, serving the Olgiate area. On the ashes of the production site abandoned since the 1960s, a health center will be built with a potential catchment area of approximately 60 thousand inhabitants.

In recent days, a feasibility study has been filed with the Municipality which envisages the creation of a clinic-outpatient clinic managed by the company “Salute è Vita”, consortium with a majority of Swiss funds.

Company qualified to offer health services and to carry out day hospital and day surgery functions, specialist clinic, clinical analysis laboratory and trauma department.

Affiliated healthcare offer

«The ownership of the area (Egal srl of Giulio Giampietri) submitted a request to transform the use of the sector from industrial-commercial to commercial and health services – he explains Aurelio Melettomayor of Oltrona – Change of destination aimed at establishing a highly functional healthcare facility, with around a hundred beds, of which Dr. Domenico Pellegrinohealth director of the RSA Bellaria in Appiano Gentile.”

The future clinic, facing Lomazzo Bizzarone (5,200 square metres), will be spread over three floors, with free, reserved parking. «In addition to providing a series of qualified health services – adds Meletto – there is also an innovative pilot project called “First line clinic” responsible for the management of white and green emergency room codes (non-urgent care), in coordination with the national health system (NHS) with a view to easing the pressure on the emergency room of the Sant’Anna and Varese hospitals”.

Private healthcare facility which, once operational, will request an agreement with the Lombardy Region. “Salute è Vita” has an agreement with the NHS: clinical analyses, radiology, magnetic resonance imaging, MRI, mammography, day surgery and day hospital are accredited.

Short times

«Once the variant for the change of use has been approved, they would be ready to start work – continues Meletto – Their goal is to be operational from the end of 2025, early 2026».

The functions to be established in the rest of the sector (15 thousand square meters in total) have yet to be defined. A building with pharmacy, dental center and a restaurant functional to the clinic itself is planned. The inclusion of a healthcare residence or, alternatively, a supermarket is not excluded. Access to the provincial road will take place via a pseudo roundabout (already positively evaluated by the Province) with priority to the provincial road.

«It is not a municipal initiative, but a private one, which we have evaluated positively for several reasons – declares Meletto – An abandoned area in a progressive state of degradation will be redeveloped. It will allow us to increase the supply of health services in the area, also to help reduce waiting lists for diagnostic tests. New jobs will be created.”
