Seborrheic dermatitis, what it is and how to treat this pathology
Descriptive text here

LSeborrheic dermatitis is a skin condition that mainly affects areas rich in sebaceous glands, such as the scalp, face and sternum. Here’s how to recognize it and treat it.

Symptoms and causes

Seborrheic dermatitis causes itching, flaking, burning, dandruff and redness of the skin. The exact causes are not completely clear, but skin inflammation is thought to be linked to genetic factors, too rapid growth of skin cells and excessive activity of the sebaceous glands. Land areas most affected they are the hairline, the eyebrows, the upper part of the sternum and the nasolabial folds.

Treatment

For adolescents and adults, the main treatments for seborrheic dermatitis include: specific shampoos for the scalp; creams and lotions with specific active ingredients to be applied to the affected areas; antifungals (to reduce itching and fungal infection). Seborrheic dermatitis is one chronic condition which cannot be definitively eradicated, but with the right care can be managed effectively. It’s important always consult your dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis (you might otherwise confuse seborrheic dermatitis with other similar conditions such as psoriasis or eczema) and and a personalized treatment plan.
