Mystery surrounding the rumor circulating regarding the alleged serious illness that would have struck the Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov. In fact, after the news went around the world, a video of the 47-year-old training in the gym was uploaded on social networks, probably to try to silence the rumors and to demonstrate his good health. This morning, the newspaper «Novaya Gazeta» announced that Kadyrov was diagnosed with an incurable disease: pancreatic necrosis. This statement seemed to be supported by sources from the central hospital in Moscow and which, however, is now being cast into doubt by the video that has appeared online.

The diagnosis dates back to January 2019 and since then Kadyrov has entered this facility several times, the newspaper wrote. Last year he was hospitalized with acute lung failure after a sedative overdose, the sources said, and his absence fueled rumors on Telegram that Kadyrov may be in a coma. Last September the Chechen leader published a photo of himself to deny the rumors. According to «Novaya Gazeta», the Kremlin has moved to look for a possible successor to Kadyrov. His public appearances in recent years have also signaled obvious changes in his weight.
