The five years of the city council. Final toast before the last session

What is coming to an end is the council that addressed the epochal event of the Covid 19 pandemic (March 2020) and named the year of Capital of Culture, 2024. Yesterday on the occasion of the farewells, before the last Council to vote on the Tari tariffs – it will be April 29th – there was an affectionate toast between those who experienced the administrative debate with “honesty and passion”. Five years during which everything happened, but in disasters, including two floods and an earthquake, the solidarity strength of the Pesaro community emerged amidst the fragility. With a touch of emotion it was the president of the City Council, Marco Perugini and the vice presidents Dario Andreolli and Andrea Marchionni, who pulled the strings of a legislature also shaken by humanly extraordinary events. It was the legislature of the premature death due to illness of councilor Roberto Biagiotti. It was the legislature in which Pesaro also opened its homes to war refugees who fled from Ukraine. It was the legislature of the high energy costs, inflation, investments of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr). Seen from Piazza del Popolo, seat of the city council – dealing with the anti-crisis fund and social and health responsibilities – it was certainly a “rollercoaster” adventure. Politically the team was broader: halfway through the council reshuffle saw Sara Mengucci, Giuliana Ceccarelli and Heidi Morotti leave for a new scheme with Camilla Murgia, Luca Pandolfi and Maria Rosa Conti. While the deputy mayor Vimini and the councilors Belloni, Pozzi, Nobili and Della Dora continued firmly.

In 2020 the 5 Stars moved from the minority to the majority with Francesca Frenquellucci in the council: the political laboratory wanted by the mayor Matteo Ricci. Parallel to the great vicissitudes, Perugini recalled the activity of the structure that animates the presidency of the council, the first machine of democratic procedures. Perugini thanked the employees Laura Cardinali, Elisa Pieri, Claudio Pascucci, Luisa Perlini; Alessandra Gasparini and Monica Generali from the press office. The president characterized the activity of the presidency with a policy aimed at combating abstentionism, involving 3 thousand students in training and orientation activities to discover the Municipality and democratic dynamics. With him, then, in collaboration with the guarantor Maruska Palazzi, the Peba, Plan for the elimination of architectural barriers, was rationalized, from which planning will start for a city that aspires to become inclusive and suitable for people with disabilities.
