The LXIII Lettura Vinciana opened this morning, at the Vinci Theater, the weekend of the Leonardian Celebrations, which every year the Municipality of Vinci dedicates to the birth of Leonardo.

The event, organized by the Municipality of Vinci with the Leonardiana Library in collaboration with the ‘Leonardo Da Vinci’ International Center for Studies and Documentation, saw the illustration of the theories on which the studies on the creation of the Imola Map are based, the painting that Leonardo composed in 1502 with which he faithfully represented the map of the city in the province of Bologna.

Illustrating hypotheses and interpretations to those present was Andrea Cantile, professor of historical cartography for landscapes, who tried to answer some questions about the knowledge gained regarding this cartographic masterpiece.

Cantile was introduced by the mayor, the deputy mayor with responsibilities for culture and the director of the Leonardiana Library.

A Leonardo Reading, today’s, which continues the tradition inaugurated on 24 April 1960 thanks to the then director of the Leonardiana Library, Renzo Cianchi. The event has never had any breaks, except the forced one in 2020, due to the Covid -19 pandemic.
In all its editions, Lettura Vinciana has remained faithful to the principles that inspired its creation, and has also brought the best exponents of Italian and Leonardian culture to the stage of the Teatro di Vinci. The 2024 edition is also presented in the wake of previous editions.

The continuity of this initiative and the recognized scientific authority of the speakers have made this event an event of great cultural interest, capable of documenting fundamental trends and main protagonists of Vinci studies in recent decades.
