Prof. Patrizia Burra, Director of the Company’s Gastroenterology UOC and Multivisceral Transplant UOSD, has been appointed Coordinator of the Company’s Transplant Functional Department.

The Department’s mission is to define integrated paths for transplantation activities, monitor the pre- and post-transplant phase, implement multidisciplinary clinics of the medical and surgical operating units. It is made up of 36 UOC and 8 UOSD. It is the second in terms of number of operational units involved after that of Rare Diseases. It is transversal as it has medical, surgical, intensive care and diagnostic operating units for both children and adults.

Over the next three years, the Department plans to create a Center dedicated exclusively to the care and management of patients throughout the entire care pathway. We will also work on the creation of personalized follow-ups and on the establishment of dear managers for integrated clinical activities. Finally, the commitment will be aimed at the drafting of educational programs that are able to confer autonomy in the management of medical and immunosuppressive therapy.

There were 435 patients discharged in 2023 due to transplantation.
