Piedmont is a very vast region rich in history: in addition to the usual tourist destinations, there are therefore many others interesting destinations and details to visit. Among these it is worth mentioning the ghost towns, that is, all those places no longer inhabited that have remained immobile and unchanged over time. So find out what they are main ghost towns in Piedmont and how to get there.

Rivarossa

It is located in the heart of Piedmont, in the province of Alessandria Rivarossaa village where time stopped between the 50s and 60s. The reason for the depopulation is economic, as the inhabitants preferred to move elsewhere in search of better living conditions.

Despite the hamlet of Borghetto di Borbera has been abandoned relatively recently, not much remains of the original town. A house has been restored, as well as it is possible to see the old can and a small church. To get here you will have to exit at Arquata Scrivia on the A7 and continue towards the town. From here, along the path of the river, you will find the ghost town.

Even if this hamlet is abandoned, you can always look for holiday homes in Borghetto di Borbera and its surroundings, in order to rest for a few days in the Piedmont hinterland.

Coindo

Going up towards the province of Turin, you find the village of Coindo, a place which, despite its inexorable decline, retains an indisputable charm. The country became depopulated between the Second World War and the post-war period, when the economic boom pushed many to reach more prosperous centers.

Beyond the stone houses, of which doors and windows still survive, Condo was also interesting from a linguistic point of view, being a predominantly Franco-Provençal. The simplest way to arrive is to exit at Avigliana Ovest on the A32 motorway, continue on the state road until Condove and then go up towards Coindo.

The visit to Reneuzzi offers a unique experience, allowing you to closely observe the effects of time and abandonment.

Today you will be able to see the small Oratory and some houses, although slowly covered by vegetation. To get here you will have to get to Carrega Ligure, on the SP147 and follow the paths. Curiously, then, nearby there is another ghost town reduced to ruins, namely the town of Connio Vecchio.
