There are bonds so subtle, yet so profound: that of Arnaud Binard with Paris being one of them. The French actor (who we also met in the role of Laurent G in the acclaimed Netflix TV series Emily in Paris) is the face of the new Moncler campaign for Fall-Winter 2024. And with him, in the shots that portray him on the streets of the French capital, he is also there his daughter Maya Rosea very young actress on the rise in her father’s footsteps: an authentic passing of the baton, from DNA to the inheritance of an artistic legacy that passes through the values of the fashion house.

Taking us behind the scenes of the campaign – as well as his very personal style, which seems to owe a lot (if not a lot) to the inspiration that came with his move to Paris in the Nineties – is Arnaud Binard himself. That he told his story in this interview with Vanity Fairrevealing all his most authentic facets: that of actor, father… and shoe lover.

Moncler chose her to represent the dynamism of Paris, the city where he took his first steps as an actor. What memories do you have of the city in his early days?

«I moved to Paris in the mid-nineties, I grew up in the south-west of France and studied in Bordeaux. At that time, Paris was for me the city where everything was possible. There were big stars, you met them on the street. For the boy I was, it was a magical city. I was also very shy at the time: I went to my favorite actors’ shows and never had the courage to approach them.”

Are there any male icons of French style that you look up to with fascination?
“At the beginning of my career, Michel Piccoli was a great inspiration for me. As was Vincent Cassel, who was just exploding as an actor. But the icons who brought me closest to the world of acting were Jean-Paul Belmondo and Alain Delon: they were like fire and water, completely opposites. They represented the golden age of French cinema, they had great class, great elegance. Speaking of feminine style, however, I am also fascinated by Béatrice Dalle: an icon, I even follow her on social media as a fan!”.

Her must-have wardrobe item?
“I’m actually a big fan of shoes. And I have no idea why! I think, as an actor, shoes are the key to understanding the character I play, although sometimes you can play barefoot characters. In any case, having the right shoes makes a difference, and not only on set. I like to wear nice shoes with nice coats or well-finished suits. And then there are polo shirts: I love them, and it’s not so obvious to be able to find good quality ones!”
