The relationship with her husband (and with sex), gambling, the bond with a “strange” mother, a few pebbles to remove from her shoe. Mara Maionchi, great Italian record company, she told herself to Beastsin the last episode to be broadcast tomorrow evening in prime time on Rai2. Some previews: no doubt when Francesca Fagnani asks her who, in the context of her work, didn’t understand that meeting her was lucky. Mara Maionchi responds without hesitation: Tiziano Ferro, «because he didn’t think that both my husband and I helped him to be what in the end, in part, he is. But this is not important: it is not obligatory to be grateful.”
In the past, for years, the record company struggled with a sort of gambling addiction: «I don’t know whether to say if I have an addiction, but I like it, then I contain myself», she explained to Francesca Fagnani, who reminded her of when he got himself banned from casinos with an autographed letter: «Yes, I got myself suspended, I was exaggerating, that was a way to defend myself».
A few years ago, Mara Maionchi declared that gambling was her way of “responding to personal and family situations that are not always satisfactory”, referring to the infidelity of the husband, Alberto Salerno, with whom she has been married since 1976. Her husband’s betrayal was discovered when he found a hotel receipt in her trouser pocket. And Mara Maionchi attributes some responsibility to herself: «I have to admit that it was also partly my fault that he looked for something outside. The red light was never there, in short, a tragedy.” It’s still: “Sexually I’m a bit modest… I’m not really good at red lights… I always have a bedside lamp.”
His long-lasting marriage was missing a fundamental person: Mara Maionchi’s mother, with whom the record company had a conflictual relationship. «She didn’t come because he said that weddings made her sad. Mom was strange, she wasn’t an affectionate woman, but she was very strong». And when Francesca Fagnani asks her if she missed something, she confesses: «I missed something, I urged her all my life to give me affection, a hug, something… but she didn’t have it. And I understood it later. Everyone is as they are.”
