Giampaolo Morelli a year later. In 2023 it led to Celebrations Theatre the comedy speech from Bologna «Inconvenient truths and 3 true stories» and a few evenings he returns with the same title. That irreverent, caustic and sincere monologue that the Neapolitan actor wrote with Gianluca Ansanelli has been partly modified. “It changes like life,” he specifies. And life sometimes leads us to see things differently. He knows something about it. At the end of 2023 he revealed an episode painful: his mother, shortly before dying, revealed to him that his biological father was not the one who had raised him. «As he says Inspector Coliandro, life is a… for everyone”, passes over him, who thanks to that clumsy inspector from the police station of Bologna achieved popularity. «For me it’s always coming home. The feeling you get after a long journey. People, taste, smells: you are relaxed. It’s an unfiltered return. From Giampaolo. Without a fourth wall, that invisible wall that separates you from the spectators, when you are protected by a character or writing. I’m here with my uncomfortable truths and above all with my three true stories. This year the show has changed and grown and I realize that it’s not just about me but about all of us.”

You talked about a sincere show and changes: can you be more precise?
«The stories are not always the same and the work is different from night to night also because I involve the public. I can say that one story is about my childhood, another is about my youth, and the last one is about my recent life. Everything absolutely authentic. Above all, I hope that a feeling is created with the public. They write to me a lot on Instagram and that makes me happy.”
Which compliments or criticisms struck you the most?
«Thank goodness, the criticism hasn’t arrived yet. The thing that pleases me most is having given personal food for thought, new ways of seeing, even about misadventures. We are all a bit the same. Always there to fight.”
What battles are you fighting in this period?
«A little and a little. Let’s say that I hope for periods in which I will fight less enormous battles.”
What does going back to the theater taste like?
«I’ve been missing for a long time. I love the relationship I establish with the public. Some of my colleagues say the theater tables have a particular smell. For me, I admit, the particular smell is that of the set.”
The future?
«Let it spin – 2 will be released soon on Amazon Prime with a preview at the Naples Comicon on the 28th. Christopher Lambert, a notable villain, will be added to the cast. And love and other mental masturbations will soon be at the cinema.”
How is Coliandro?
«It’s always there. When he seems dead, he has the strength to rise from the ashes, I trust in his strength.”
