Harvey Weinstein has been hospitalized in New York after appearing before the Supreme Court which overturned his sex crime conviction. According to what the Associated Press reports on its website, this was stated by his lawyer Arthur Aidala, who explained that the former king of Hollywood is currently in Bellevue hospital, where he is undergoing a series of tests . The lawyer did not indicate Weinstein’s health status, but spoke only of ”medical issues”. The Court of Appeals overturned his conviction after concluding that a judge had allowed jurors to see and hear too much evidence not directly related to the charges; he also erased his 23-year prison sentence and ordered a new trial. However, the former film producer remains in prison because in 2022 he was sentenced for rape to another 16 years in prison in Los Angeles.
He has long suffered from heart problems, diabetes and sleep apnea
“They examined him and sent him to the hospital in Bellevue. He seems to need a lot of help, physically. He has a lot of problems. He’s doing all kinds of tests. It’s a bit of a disaster from a health point of view.” , explained Aidala, who added that Weinstein is still “smart” mentally and his health problems are physical.” For some time Weinstein has been suffering from heart problems, diabetes, sleep apnea and eye problems. At the moment neither the hospital , nor the penitentiary institution responded to media requests for comment. Weinstein, 72, has been in prison since 2020.
