Rain of criticism to ClioMakeUpthe make-up artist and influencer with 3.5 million followers on Instagram, who moved from New York a few years ago to live with her family on the outskirts of Milan. Clio Zammatteo announced on social media that on April 12th he will undergo surgery blepharoplasty. «It was a bit of a rash choice – says Clio in a reel while she is applying make-up -, the flaw is noticeable when I use dark eyeshadows or eyeliner because the eyelid covers the eyeliner line or the eyeshadow and eyes eat away. they look different; if it didn’t bother me at first, then it did, I was never satisfied with the final result of the tricks and the difference between one eye and the other. A friend had blepharoplasty and the change is not radical, it will always be me. I had the first visit to understand if it should be done by both (even if one eyelid is not so droopy) and I was told yes to have symmetry. I also asked about laser surgery, but every two years you have to do it again. Better the classic operation, set for April 12th; within ten days I should be presentable, after three months the scar should become almost invisible.”
The technique of revealing personal stories during a beauty tutorial is spreading on social media. It’s sort of beauty confession which allows you to reduce distances with your followers. But not everyone at ClioMakeUp understood the choice. There are those who write: «Don’t accept a flaw at 41. In 20 years you will be remade because other parts will inevitably fall off”; «Incoherent at best, at this point you’re actually poking your nose»; «It was nice to follow you precisely because you were natural… Your teeth were a little crooked, your eyelid drooping. Now the braces and the blepharo…” and “The point is: blepharo today, lines tomorrow, Botox the day after tomorrow. When do we stop? Other followers judge her inconsistent with the message that the influencer has always launched: «Where has the discussion about accepting yourself as you are gone? Some people object that you are free to do what you want, obviously, but those who spread these messages have a responsibility towards fragile users who do not accept themselves and go into crisis.”
Today, in a new video on Instagram, Clio herself intervened: «I’m watching that many people I know have filmed my latest video, I haven’t said anything anymore because in the video I had expressed all my opinions and argued my choice – she states -. There are those who are in favor, those who are against, some comments make me laugh out loud: “you’re beautiful like this, your eyelid is fine, if I were you I would do my ass, my nose, many other things” ».
