In fact, all the brands operating in the old continent are already very active in the design-production of full electric models. At the forefront are the French. In fact, it is going along this line Citroën for some time but also the Renault which, with the complete renewal of its range with new hybrid or full electric cars, wants to focus heavily on this latest technology and offer it to a wider audience.

There Renault 5 it embodies the new philosophy of the French company, which wants to be green but also within everyone’s reach. But now there is also its “baddest” version. And it couldn’t help but be Alpine. That’s where it was born A290 which, compared to its “sister” has a decidedly more aggressive appearance.

This can already be seen from the X-shaped lights reminiscent of rally cars and from a bodywork widened by 60 mm which now sees additional black elements in the wheel arches. The rims also increase in size while the Brembo brakes with red or blue calipers are clearly visible underneath, depending on the customer’s tastes.

As in the Renault 5, inside we find a 10.25″ digital instrument cluster and a 10.1″ central display slightly inclined towards the driver. In general, the sporty soul of this car can be perceived in details such as the nappa leather steering wheel cut in the lower part and an “OV” button which increases power for approximately 10 seconds.

You can choose between Save, Normal, Sport and Perso (the custom setting) driving modes. The new Alpine A290 it is available in two power variants, offering 178 HP and 218 HP respectively, with engines derived from the Megane E-Tech Electric. Finally, the car is equipped with a battery that allows it to have a claimed autonomy of 380 km in the WLTP mixed cycle and a 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.4 seconds. No information yet on sales prices.
