It will become mandatory to install this new system, which guarantees maximum safety for you and those traveling with you: this is what it is and what the law requires for car manufacturers.

In recent years, the theme of road safety is has become a priority that the various manufacturers are addressing in an important way. For some time now, technology has radically changed cars as we used to know them and there are various safety systems that have arisen on board them.

In particular, today we are talking about a security system that in Europe it is mandatory as early as 2022 and which instead, in the United States of America, must necessarily be mounted on board every car only starting from 2029. We are talking about a huge delay which translates into disastrous effects when it comes to accidents, an issue for which the United States is unfortunately suffering a lot, with truly alarming data.

But what does this obligation consist of and why is the United States so late? Here’s the answer.

From 2029, this system will be mandatory on every car

From 2029, all cars in the United States will have to be equipped with automatic braking emergency AEB as standard, a system that aims to reduce injuries and victims of road accidents, especially pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. According to estimates, it could help save up to 360 lives every year and prevent 24,000 injuries.

What does AEB consist of? Using some sensors, it is able to detect potential collision situations automatically activating the brakes when the driver does not intervene in time.

AEB, all the features

They will necessarily have to equip themselves with the AEB system all cars that weigh 4535 kg or less. The standards require the system to be able to operate fully automatically up to 145 kilometers per hour when a potential collision with a vehicle is detected, and up to 45 km/h when a pedestrian is detected.

In reality, AEB systems have long been present in the United States as well. The fact is that for now it is one paid equipment, while from 2029 it will become standard. This means that all cars produced after this date will necessarily have to have it.
