Restomods are becoming more and more popular and several companies are working in this direction, creating new proposals. In particular, TWR Performance presented his first project called TWR Supercat. It is a sports car based on the Jaguar XJS updated both mechanically and aesthetically, with a specific body kit to make it even faster both on the road and on the track.
AGGRESSIVE
The shapes of the TWR Supercat are the result of a redesign of the XJS that Khyzyl Saleem and fashion designer Magnus Walker worked on. The new look makes the XJS look like a racing car thanks to the new aerodynamic body kit which makes it much more aggressive.
The track has been significantly widened compared to the original car. At the front there is a particularly pronounced splitter, while at the rear we find a large ducktail spoiler. Also at the rear we can observe the presence of a large diffuser and new light clusters. The car is also characterized by the presence of large wheel arches. For the bodywork carbon fiber was used with the aim of keeping the weight as low as possible. On the side there are also the exhaust terminals of the V12 that powers this car.
And the interior? TWR Performance did not show the cockpit, only saying that the interiors have been significantly revised. To find out what the company means we will have to wait for the dynamic debut of its car expected for next summer.
V12 ENGINE
As mentioned, TWR Supercat will have a supercharged V12 engine that it will be able to provide over 600 HP. Unfortunately, for the moment the company did not want to communicate particular technical details. Therefore, we still don’t know anything precise about the technical characteristics of the engine and its performance. The gearbox, however, will be a 6-speed manual. We don’t even know anything about the weight of the car. The company said the project has been in development for nearly three years.
First customer deliveries of the TWR Supercat are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. Production will be limited to 88 units, in homage to the 1988 Le Mans victory of the TWR Jaguar XJR-9. The car can already be ordered with prices starting from 225,000 pounds (approximately 263,000 euros), excluding taxes.
