A GROWING BRAND – Orphaned of the two-seater city car that made it famous, now out of production (here the news), Smart is increasingly increasing the size of its cars. At the Beijing Motor Show, which starts in two days, the Smart will in fact show for the first time the Concept #5a show car that anticipates the most spacious and versatile model ever produced by the car manufacturer and which will be launched in 2025. It is a medium-sized SUV (460 cm long approximately) which aims to combine the functionality and accessibility typical of the brand with a design inspired by the world of outdoor activities and four-wheel driveoff-road tires and high-level technology.
OUTDOOR INSPIRATION – Already with it style external squaredcharacterized by reduced overhangs and limited external dimensions, the Smart Concept #5 he wants to demonstrate his adventurous character. There is no shortage of protection for the bodywork, thanks to the front and rear skid plates. There’s also a hidden winch, while the folding rear step provides access to the roof, where there’s a light bar. The heart ofpassenger compartment it is the new console with a new man-machine interface and two integrated OLED screens. In the console we find a portable speaker, while the “zero gravity” seat for the front passenger it promises to combine comfort and safety: it is equipped with new airbag solutions and integrates heating, ventilation and massage functions. Thanks to the integration with theartificial intelligence, passengers can engage the onboard virtual assistant in conversations: AI uses intelligent interaction technologies to provide accurate and relevant answers to almost any question. Furthermore, those on board can control some of the main functions by voice.
VERY FAST CHARGE – The Smart Concept #5 is equipped with a battery with a nominal capacity of over 100 kWh, which should allowautonomy with zero emissions of more 550km, calculated on the WLTP cycle. Thanks to a traction system with 800 volt technology, the electric SUV can recover 70% of its charge – therefore going from 10 to 80% – within 15 minutes.
