Apparently they are real communications, but behind them lies a scam that empties the pockets of the unfortunate victims. Here’s how to avoid the trap.

There is a phishing alarm again, the new frontier of scams against web users. Through an email or other type of communication, cyber criminals try to lure their victim by pretending to be a reliable sender.

It is not always easy to recognize this scam, above all, because the communications seem completely real, complete with logos and web addresses. That’s why, though Phishing has been happening for years nowthere are still many users who fall into the trap and find themselves with empty accounts.

Now it is the Revenue Agency scam that is causing harm to new victims. Web criminals, identifying themselves as employees of the organization, try to steal personal information and credit and prepaid card codes. It is the same one who launches the alert Revenue Agency which, through a press release on the portal, announces: “False email communications from the Revenue Agency continue to circulate regarding alleged inconsistencies in the declarations, an issue we recently reported on. The purpose of these communications is to attract the victim’s attention by looking for a contact from which to subsequently establish a fraudulent action”. This is why it is good to know what to do to avoid falling into a trap.

Revenue Agency scam: phishing alert is again

A new danger threatens users. This time, the scam bears the name of the Revenue Agency, but in reality there is a group of criminals behind it. Unfortunately, falling into the hacker network is rather easy, considering that the communications sent are in every way similar to those of the institution.

For this reason, the Agency itself has provided some advice to unmask the deception.

How to avoid the phishing trap

As we mentioned, it is not very easy to distinguish a fraudulent email from a real one. For this reason, the Revenue Agency has clarified that: “never sends communications containing taxpayers’ personal data by email”.

It is therefore recommended to don’t click for no reason, link and not to provide personal information and sensitive data. In conclusion, the organization declares itself to be totally foreign to this type of communication and underlines: “In case of doubts about the veracity of a communication received from the Agency, it is always preferable to verify beforehand by consulting the ‘Focus on phishing’ page, contacting the contacts available on the institutional portal www.agenziadelleentrate.gov.it or directly to the territorially competent office ”.
