In the headquarters of the Institute of History and Art of Southern Lazio (at the Regina Margherita national boarding school in Anagni) on Tuesday 18 June, at 10.30 am, the exhibition “New accessions of the Giuseppe Marchetti Longhi library” will be inaugurated with the exhibition of texts books relating to the Pontine countryside. An opportunity to learn about interesting texts from the library named after the historian Giuseppe Marchetti Longo, specialized in the collection of works relating to southern Lazio and which has more than 21,000 titles.

The library was founded in 1983 from a donation by the historian’s nephew, doctor Valerio Bufacchi. A cultural heritage that has expanded over time with further donations: other volumes were donated by Monsignor Filippo Caraffa and many are owned by Professor Salvatore Sibilia, given to the library by his widow. The library also preserves many rare works dating back to past centuries and is part of the Valle del Sacco Libraries Interlibrary Association.

The exhibition promoted by Isalm will remain open until 6 September 2024 and a video of the exhibition will be visible on the institute’s YouTube channel.
The Institute of History and Art of Southern Lazio was born in Rome in 1945 and recognized as a non-profit organization in 1974. The Institute aims to promote and disseminate, also through research and study, knowledge of history, art and popular traditions of southern Lazio; to encourage the conservation of the monuments and works of art that are their expression; to carry out educational activities for the dissemination of the aforementioned purposes, also through an organic relationship of exchange and collaboration with the world of schools and universities; to provide an operational cultural service through the management of museums, libraries, archives and other cultural institutions in the area. It is chaired by professor Gioacchino Giammaria.
