80 years later, “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry still knows how to enchant and provoke reflections and interpretations. It proves it the book by Romolo Perrotta (professor at Unical) in his “Meditating on the little prince through key words”. A real journey undertaken by the pedagogist together with some students (Maria Federico, Alessandra La Banca and Josie Patamia). The book was presented in recent days at the Vibo Valentia municipal library.

The meeting was marked by dialogue with the author on the part of Nicola Rombolà (teacher) and the musical interludes performed by the “Vibo Junior Orchestra” who performed important pieces taken from the repertoire of Mozart and Beethoven. The initiative which took place as part of the events dedicated to the “May of books” was promoted and organised from the Musikè Academy and the director artistic Angela Crudo who presented and curated the musical interventions. An important commitment with three appointments that the association has undertaken thanks to the collaboration of the various masters: Santina Spinelli, Nina Scidà, Carmela Celestino, Letizia Tropeano, Antonio De Rito, Donato Ventura, Daniele Paolillo.

«During the event – write the promoters – certain issues emerged relevance from an existential and philosophical, not just pedagogical, point of view, such as the conception and relationship with time, the value of music, the relationship with words, dreams and desires of children, in a historical moment in which social media reign, but also issues such as war, why adults forget that they were children. Furthermore, attention was paid to exemplary characters present in the book such as the lamplighter, and then there were many semantic short circuits. A plot that Romolo Perrotta has woven with the children based on interpretative ideas which were based on Saint-Exupery’s text. Themes also emerged such as the etymological value of words, the mystery surrounding creation, the concept of finite and infinite, the immensity of the contemporary age, the weight of now uncontrollable technology, myth, the beauty of meeting and discover oneself.”

Many themes were «raised by the children who have the gift of spontaneity and amazement in the face of the world. Knowledge through experience and culture were topics addressed by the Councilor for Culture of the municipal administration of Vibo Giusi Fanelli, highlighting highlights the positive aspects that he was able to experience first-hand in his many experiences in which he was able to participate by capturing the beauty and important resources that the territory can express.”
