Although a quarter of a century has passed since the fatal accident on 26 May 1999, which cost the life of the Modenese surgeon Enzo Piccinini, doctor of the S.Orsola hospital in Bologna, events and publications linked to his testimony and the his countless friendships in Italy and around the world.
Today, in Piazza Grande, Piccinini will be remembered by the Cultural Center “La hill of poetry”, in collaboration with the Piccinini Foundation and the patronage of the Municipality of Modena, starting from 2.00 pm, with a preview of an exhibition – I got you like “Mio” – which will be hosted at the next 45th Meeting in Rimini.
At 3.30 pm in the Cathedral, the Abbot Archbishop of Modena-Nonantola and Bishop of Carpi, Monsignor Erio Castellucci, will celebrate the Holy Mass for the XXV Anniversary of the surgeon’s dies natalis, followed by the presentation of the last one at 4.30 pm in Piazza Grande book that tells it – Dearest friend. Enzo Piccinini in the words and stories of those who knew him (published by BUR) – written by Pierpaolo Bellini and Chiara Piccinini. The journalist of ‘Il Foglio’ Matteo Matzuzzi will talk to Bellini, while the Heart of Gold musical group from Turin will perform songs dear to Enzo.
In past years, other widely read publications have told of the life of Piccinini, who today is a Servant of God as the canonization process has been underway for some years due to his passionate faith. A similar process is underway in Milan for Monsignor Luigi Giussani, to whom Piccinini was extraordinarily close throughout his adult life.
Today, therefore, his memory will be linked to the many initiatives planned, to always keep the history of the Modena surgeon alive.
