It rarely happens that the protagonist of a novel not only really exists, but participates in the presentation of the book that tells her story, together with the writer.

All these conditions will come true on Tuesday 28 May on the occasion of the presentation of the book “Sadia, a woman’s story” (Termanini publisher), written by Donatella Masciaan eclectic author who for years has combined her work as a writer with that of an engineer as well as a professor of naval construction at the University of Genoa.

Mascia will be at the Quadrivium room at 6pm to present her latest book in the company of the publisher Stefano TermaniniOf Aldo Daniele, Roberto Trovato and above all of Sadia Sharmin Rita who is precisely the protagonist of the story.

A human story that is unfortunately very current, because it tells of the worst manifestations of patriarchy and chauvinism. But also a fortunately current story, because it explains how courage, willpower and a rule of law can help a young foreign woman victim of oppression and abuse to save herself, emancipate herself and have a second chance, truly a new life.

Donatella Mascia’s book begins in Bangladesh where we meet Sadia, she is sixteen years old and one day she discovers that she will have to marry a compatriot who lives in Italy and has passed himself off to his family as a rich entrepreneur. In reality she works in a cleaning company to make ends meet and lying would be the lesser evil given that for her Sadia will be the beginning of a life of violence and isolation, even after the birth of two children.

However, something will happen, which you can discover by reading the book and which Sadia herself will tell you about on Tuesday, at the presentation of the book.
