“Story of Mrs. Bug and the cat Giustino”, the second book by Angelo Deiana presented

VITERBO – A fairy tale “written for my girls and for my partner, trying to give the story, starting from the title, a Sepulvedian flavour, because Sepúlveda is one of my favorite authors and because I believe that his key to speaking to very young and not only is it the most beautiful and the most intriguing.” But first, ‘Story of Mrs. Bug and the cat Giustino (Scatole Parlanti 2024), for Angelo Deiana it was a necessity “because many things have happened in recent years, and fortunately all of them are good. This book tries to keep them together, intertwined with many themes that are close to my heart and that I consider important in my life as a man, as a father, as a teacher and as a writer”.

The fable tells of an elderly bedbug close to one of the last pages of her life. By chance, or by luck, she ends up in a house where a girl lives, about to give birth to her first daughter, together with her beloved cats Mumma and Sebastiano. The coexistence of the insect with the two felines is not at all easy at the beginning, on the contrary: there isn’t a day that goes by that they don’t try to kill her. But the birth of the little girl and a terrible event that happens to Mr. Giustino, the king of the neighborhood cats, will change everything. “Like many children’s books, this one also has multiple reading levels, and I am sure it will also reach the hearts of older adults. My greatest joy is to imagine parents or grandparents reading this story to their children or grandchildren. Or that some boy who has never read a book can start with this one”, concludes Deiana.

Angelo Deiana was born in 1991 and lives in Viterbo. Graduated in Modern Philology, he is a permanent teacher of literary subjects at high schools. He is responsible for the program and moderator of the Literary Emporium of Pienza and of the Caffeina events. He attended the “Molly Bloom” writing school founded by Emanuele Trevi and Leonardo Colombati. “The story of Mrs. Bug and the cat Giustino” is his second publication after ‘A Diosa. The legend of Nenè’ (L’Erudità, 2019).
