Savor a book and read a wine… Yes, it is possible. Just passionately leaf through the pages of an essay or a novel, enjoy them line after line, anticipate the ending of a story, reread a volume a second and third time, discovering new details, new flavours. And how do you read a wine? Well, you can start from the simplest thing: look at the label and find out the name, the producer, the alcohol content, the denomination, the notes on the aromas. To then go deeper and be fascinated, so to speak, by the preface and afterword, then by the history of the winemaker, by why he chose that name, up to delving into the type of grape and the terroir where that vine grows. Two unique and enriching experiences that you can experience together Turin International Book Fair (at Lingotto until Monday 13 May).

A novelty for 2024: “Augusta POP” has arrived at the Salone, a space dedicated to artisanal wine, agriculture, cooking and other arts which, like writing, fill and lull all the senses, starting from the soul, without neglecting taste. “Augusta POP” is the extension of a project conceived and organized by “Augusta”, the natural wine fair and cultural event held in Turin in November and which was born as a celebration of the craftsmanship of wine and food and the integrity of the values of the people involved.

And it’s like this when walking among the pavilions, between one stand and another, between an appointment with the author and a thematic focus, you will be able to access the Augusta POP area and taste. The space inside the Show is set up in Piazzale Ovale and hosts a program starting from Thursday 9 May and continuing until Sunday entitled: “Augusta Pop Space – Making and communicating”.

For four days the writer Francesco Pacifico will dialogue with various guests trying to understand together the principles of their work and the relationship between them and the world, all based on the principle of “naturalness” and the meaning that this takes on for each guest and their context.

And you will – obviously – also be able to taste the wine: among the stands there is space for over 25 super-selected labels (available by the glass) whose philosophy embraces the artisanal and natural style of Augusta. An initiative strongly desired and carried out by Piero Crocenzi, CEO of the Salone Internazionale del Libro Srl and creator of Augusta, as well as a great enthusiast and connoisseur of the world of wine.

“After the great success of the first edition of Augusta, with over 2500 visitors coming to the Bunker to learn about our wines and buy books from our bookshop, we thought that meeting the wider public of the International Book Fair would be a great challenge for us – explains Crocenzi to The taste – We want to reach more and more people who are passionate about natural wine and food culture.”

A way to unite two cultural worlds which have a lot in common and which, like few sectors, manage to combine craftsmanship with passion, intercepting the tastes of a public that has clear ideas. “The Augusta space at the Salone is created in Industrial style – continues Crocenzi – and is made up of a bookshop, a wine bar, a food point and a meeting space where the writer Francesco Pacifico interviews authors who have made the naturalness of things a central point of their creative work”.
