Books: Salone Torino, Residui di rock’n’roll by Gianluca Grignani

From Friday 10 May “Residues of rock’n’roll – Sincere diary of an artist”, Gianluca Grignani’s autobiography written with the journalist Eugenio Arcidiacono, will be in bookshops and digital stores, with the preface by Irama and the afterword by Stefano Senardi. Published by Edizioni San Paolo, the book is available for pre-order. The eclectic and electric singer-songwriter will present his new book on Friday 10 May at 7pm on the Live Stage of the Turin International Book Fair, in dialogue with Arcidiacono. The subtitle “Sincere diary of an artist” contains the essence of the book: through music, Gianluca Grignani has always told himself and his vision of the world and in these pages he does so by laying himself bare with absolute sincerity. In the chapters that take their name from some of his most famous songs, Grignani recounts his childhood marked by a troubled relationship with his parents and traumatic experiences, the success he achieved when he was still very young, so sudden and sensational that it risked overwhelming him, the often complicated relationships with the discography and the press, friendships with other artists, first of all Lucio Dalla.
A series of unpublished stories and poems embellish the narrative of Gianluca Grignani’s past and new musical projects, with particular attention to the literary, cinematographic and musical sources of inspiration, the effort and joy that lie behind an idea form, passing through the relationships with the musicians who work with him. What emerges from the autobiography is the image of an artist who manages to sweep away the residues that life leaves behind to free the strength that has always saved him : rock’n’roll. The same rock’n’roll that Gianluca Grignani brought live to the main Italian clubs (10 sold out dates) with Residui di rock’n’roll, the tour that continues this summer with two new special dates: June 19th at Terminal 3 in Castano Primo (Milan), as part of the Terminal 3 Festival, and on 7 August at the Stadio Comunale Fonte dell’Olmo in Roseto Degli Abruzzi (Teramo), on the occasion of the IX edition of the Emozioni in Musica Pop festival.( AGI)
