Who they are, how they are, what they want: the book «Mamme d’Italia» on newsstands with the GdB

Choice, body, mind, couple, friendship, work and rights: these are the seven stages told in the book «Mothers of Italy» (Il Sole 24 Ore; pp. 224) by Monica D’Ascenzo and Manuela Perrone. The volume, which tries to reconstruct a portrait of today’s mothers, is on newsstands from May 4th with the Giornale di Brescia for 12.90 euros (plus the daily newspaper).

Book

Becoming a mother is always a challenge. In the country of empty cradles it is even more so. I am 10.4 million women live in Italy with at least one child, alone or as a couple, biological or adoptive, Italian or foreign. An incredible mine of knowledge and energy. Through a seven-step journey, this book seeks to give back a portrait of mothers anchored in data and realitybeyond idealized representations and partisan exploitations.

To understand who they are, how they are and what they want, and give them the value they deserve. So that the rejection of the myth of motherhood does not transform into its opposite: the myth of the rejection of motherhood.
