Sunday 12 May at 4.30 pm at the Turin Book Fair in the Sala Arancio, on the occasion of the meeting “The Middle Ages between History and Graphic Novels. Renato Bordone, Luigi Piccatto and Martino da Loreto”, a project will be presented that the Tested Bosk Association intends to carry out starting from 2024 and which takes its inspiration from the graphic novel Martin of Loretodesigned by Luigi Piccatto on a subject by Renato Bordone.

Stefano Grimaldi, acting president of the Association, will present the project, while Donatella Gnetti and Claudio Pia will talk about the Middle Ages studied and imagined by Bordone, the publisher Stefano Delmastro will illustrate the editorial program of Martin and Gabriella Piccatto will remember her brother Luigi and his peculiar way of drawing the Middle Ages.

The aim of the Tested Bosk association, established during 2020 by Piccatto and some professionals and enthusiasts from the world of comics, is to promote the cultural and historical heritage of Piedmont and the Asti area through graphic arts in general and comics in particularly through publications, events and exhibitions. A sector of particular interest for the Association is local medieval history, which can be found in graphic novels a modern and versatile dissemination tool also in terms of tourism promotion of the area.

It’s proof of that Martin of Loreto: published in 2006 by Scripturepura, the volume had a limited circulation at the time; now, however, thanks to the hilly community between Langhe and Monferrato, it has been possible to find and put back on the market a good part of the first edition and above all to build a complex project around it, which involves its translation into English, the creation of an exhibition of the original tables and a conference dedicated to the historiographical themes that form the backdrop to the graphic novels.

And not only that: in the original project of the authors, Bordone and Piccatto, Martin it was supposed to be the first episode of a series of graphic novels dedicated to the extensive and often unknown reservoir of stories from the Middle Ages in Piedmont; the subsequent subjects, as well as others, are available to the Association, which intends to continue with their creation.
