Nicola Pesce’s social appeal to donate a thousand books: the Monte Carlo school responds ‘present’

The author of books Nicola Pesce he gave some volumes to the Giacomo Puccini primary school in Montecarlo. A donation born from an initiative launched via social media by the writer – among others of the novel The fox who loved books – to bring a thousand volumes to districts throughout Italy.

In fact, on March 25th Pesce wrote a post which immediately went viral: “I would like to give 1000 books to Italian primary schools, can you help me deliver them? I’ll put the books there. I’ll take care of the shipping. You only have to put in one thing: a few minutes of your time. If there is an elementary school with a reading room in your city, take a photo of it and contact me. Send me the photo and tell me where to send you a dozen books. I will send them to your home. You will be the one to take them to school. So, if you like the idea, share what I wrote and proceed: we are on a mission on behalf of culture.”

On the same day some parents therefore sent images of the library and reading room of the Giacomo Puccini school to the writer who, exactly 30 days later, delivered the 10 children’s books that today enrich the shelves of primary schools.

“Thank you therefore Nicola Pesce, the children of the Giacomo Puccini primary school in Montecarlo are grateful to you for having enriched their colorful library, not only with beautiful books, but also with the beauty and kindness of your actions, which, if well narrated , they can certainly be a source of great inspiration for the little ones and, perhaps, not only them – say the institute -. Because, as Anne Herbert said, ‘kindness can beget kindness as much as violence begets violence’. Therefore, the most precious recipe always remains the same: practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty.”
