The artist chosen for “CABA A book in the window” of May 2024 is Fernanda Mancini with the book donated to CABA a few years ago “Four poems”.

Born in Rome, where she lives alternately with Berlin, Fernanda studied philosophy at the “La Sapienza” University and attended the Fine Arts Academies of Rome and Berlin as an auditor, later studying painting with the painter Frank Geßner. You worked in the editorial staff of Treccani’s “Vocabolario”, collaborating with newspapers and magazines for the cultural side. In her artistic work, her own visual artistic language has emerged, which in the relationship of the image with the word opens logical forms to renewed spaces and expressive essences. In the book exhibited in the exhibition made on Nepalese paper, the word and the image become one, open poems, partly fragmentary, intimate in relationship with nature, the wind, the water, the trees, united with fragments of collage and embroidery with black thread completing the pages. In her work Fernanda investigates the possibility of a closeness between the forms of thinking and the richness and fluidity of the image in relation to interior space. Topics on which you have worked, both in the field of images and words, are the fragment, the sacred, the symbol and the myth, to which you have dedicated works and exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. In parallel with painting, the artist dedicates herself to poetry and works in book form, in which she combines her own poems or excerpts from readings with painting, drawing and photography. You have several publications of both non-fiction and poetry to your credit and over the years you have been a guest at various poetic events.
