“Paper that goes, paper that comes”, meetings organized by Comieco

The Kasa dei Libri, with its vast collection of 35,000 volumes accessible to the public, and Comieco, the National Consortium for the recovery and recycling of cellulose-based packaging, may seem like two distinct realities. However, both share a common goal: the conservation and reuse of paper in all its forms. While the Kasa of Books is committed to the preservation of paper through its collection, Comeco deals with giving it a second life through recycling.

For this reason, they consider each other friends and allies and, at least once a year, get together with some guests to discuss shared issues. This year, a series of three meetings called “Paper that goes, paper that comes” was organized, during which the different contexts in which the use of paper is decreasing or increasing will be explored.

“We are becoming increasingly better at separate collection and recycling of paper and cardboard: in the packaging sector alone, we have already achieved the European objectives for 2025 (75% recycling rate) and we are close to exceeding the 85% target set for 2030. – explains Carlo Montalbetti, General Director of Comieco – However, much still remains to be understood about the potential of paper and the role it plays in everyday life today and it is precisely to delve deeper into these themes that we are pleased to promote this series of meetings together with the Kasa dei Libri”.
