Descriptive text here

The 15th edition of ‘Dialogues of Pistoia’, a contemporary anthropology festival promoted by the Caript Foundation and the Municipality, directed by Giulia Cogoli, which will be held from 24 to 26 May, is dedicated to nutrition. ‘Are we what we eat? Nourishing the body and the mind’ is the guiding thread of reflections of anthropologists, historians, philosophers, scientists, writers, artists, psychologists, even chefs, in 55 events where the relationship with food is explored in depth.

The ways in which, in the history of humanity up to now, each society constructs and transforms its own idea of nutrition will be investigated. We will therefore talk about the relationship with food, sustainability, prevention, how food has traveled and how it will change in the future.

“With dozens of high-profile events and guests, the festival will address many themes around which a good part of the future of humanity is played out – declares Lorenzo Zogheri, president of the Caript Foundation – To delve into them we have chosen the key of food which is a a topic that meets the sensitivity of young people. We thought of them as privileged interlocutors, to offer opportunities for reflection and cultural growth, as well as a significant contribution to the development of our territory given the attention that the festival draws to Pistoia at a national level” .

“The philosopher Michela Marzano will open the events and we will close with Antonio Manzini and Marco Aime – explains Giulia Cogoli – We have a concert by two great jazz musicians, Paolo Fresu and Omar Sosa, and a musical show with Peppe Servillo and Natalio Mangalavite dedicated to Tiziano Terzani in twentieth anniversary of his death”. “It seems to me that the theme of nutrition and food – states the mayor Alessandro Tomasi – is not only in the debates in Pistoia but a central European topic: we have seen the recent farmers’ protests, which tell us of a world that is struggling and of the need to an ecological transition and the abandonment of the use of chemistry”. Furthermore, the 2024 Pistoia Dialogues Award is awarded to Corrado Augias. Delivery will take place on May 25th (9pm) in Piazza Duomo.
