FRANCAVILLA AL MARE – What is narrative reportage? It means hunting for stories within a community, and never more than in Francavilla al Mare (Chieti), a city that risks being swallowed up by nearby Pescara and increasingly a dormitory neighbourhood, is there a need to reconnect with the past . A path therefore that intends to recover the stories and memories that have crossed the country, involving the elderly to recover them and write them in a dedicated ebook. A way to be part of a great common narrative, to bring generations closer together, with the aim of writing the future together.

This is why – we read in a press release – within “Libridine” Scuola Macondo, Neo Edizioni and Alphaville – nonsolocinema have thought of a dedicated project: starting from 30 April there will be 10 meetings on Tuesdays from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm at the Mu .Mi of Francavilla al Mare, the teachers for this new “Narrative Reportage” course will be the writer Peppe Millanta and the writer Raffaella Simoncini.

At the end of the course there will therefore be the publication of an ebook with Neo Edizioni which will include the students’ works and it is precisely in this wake that the publisher Francesco Coscioni admits: “Memory, roots, what our past preserves, have always been at the basis of the present that is fulfilled and the future that is planned, both on an intimate and private level and on a community level.

Our houses are full of them, the streets and alleys of the places because we live there, here we lead our lives and the lives of those who preceded us. Francavilla al Mare is full of stories, small and large, of people dear to us and unknown. Becoming explorers and narrators of what has always surrounded us means preparing a new memory for Francavilla al Mare”.
