There Fondation Émile Chanoux care, in collaboration with theRegional administration and the cmunicipality of Champdeprazthe organization of initiatives that from May to August they prepare the forty-eighth Rencontre valdôtaine. This year too the program will be full and we’ll get started Thursday 2 May at 6pm at the Maria Ida Viglino salon cwith the presentation of the new book by Michela Ceccarelli titled Plusieurs Pays, une seule région. Stories of immigrants and emigrants in the Aosta Valley and published by Musumeci.

In the volume the author addresses and talks about the current migratory flows in Valle d’Aosta. In fact, if on the one hand this small borderland comes back to life a strong emigration of qualified young people who leave abroad in search of greater possibilities of realization, on the other hand it is a welcoming land for immigrants from all over the world for the most varied reasons.

In addition to numbers and statistics, which alone would make the narrative sterile, Ceccarelli tries to put the individual is at the center of his research and returns testimonies and direct experiences of the Aosta Valley community abroad but also of those who have chosen our region to live: «Every emigrant or immigrant travels with suitcases full of ideas, skills, aspirations and their journey or passage returns the faithful photograph of a Valle d’Aosta in continuous transformation, multi-ethnic, multicultural with new and important economic and demographic challenges on the horizon ».

The author

Michela Ceccarelli is a teacher of French language and literature in secondary schools in the Aosta Valley, Ambassador of the Aosta Valley for We the Italians and member of the Scientific Committee of the Chanoux Foundation. Since 2019 she has been collaborating on the project La Mémoire de l’émigration as regional manager for new youth mobility abroad.

As part of research and study on the current migratory phenomenon, he has published Emigrés (Testolin Editore), Emigrants 2.0 (Musumeci Editore), Plusieurs Pays, une seule région (Musumeci Editore) and numerous articles on the topic in national and international magazines and newspapers.

He has participated in various television programs on the migration phenomenon, promoted and broadcast by Rai and has collaborated in the creation of reportages The New World And South of the mountains, Africa.
