GISSI. All the students of the Omnicomprehensive Institute “G. Spataro” of Gissi also this year celebrated EARTH DAY and WORLD BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY which saw them involved in interesting and practical activities in the gardens, vegetable gardens and spaces adjacent to the schools. we were also engaged in real relays of ecological readings, in reading parties, in flashbook mobs, in green readings that deal with the environment, climate change and nature protection in sharing and reflection on environmental issues and on the importance of reading aimed at education to sustainable development which today becomes a strategic objective for the present and tomorrow of the entire world.
The environmental issue, linked to the conservation of our planet, represents a challenge that can no longer be avoided for future generations, in fact educating students to build a “green” future and live in a better world. This new human awareness can only start from schools and students of all ages, especially from the youngest, those who we could call “environmental natives”: a generation that in everyday life implements eco-sustainable behaviors as a perspective aimed at respecting environment in which it lives through the promotion of cooperative, responsible attitudes and care for the ecosystem.
There are many activists who on the occasion of the anniversary make their voices heard to recall the objectives of the 2030 Agenda aimed at making governments and public opinion responsible for environmental issues, as well as the evaluation of problems such as pollution, the extinction of animal and plant species, the depletion of natural resources.
One day may not be enough but it is still a beginning, especially if every year on these occasions it is possible to make new people aware of the importance of reversing the trend, adopting changes that must first of all start from our daily lives through small choices that can make the difference. So, dear guys, have the courage to go against the grain… Be part of the solution, not part of the pollution!! Turn off your cell phones and turn on your books!
Instilling a passion for reading in children and young people is giving them a key with which to open a passage towards infinite worlds. Books are our allies, they are a precious tool that contributes to education, the diffusion of culture and knowledge; in comparison.
Reading is traveling with the mind, building your own world where you can take refuge when you feel like it, going to live in borrowed places, changing perspective, looking at others with different eyes, opening your mind to fantasy but also to reality, it is an ever-increasing incentive to never stop leafing through books together,
A book is like a tree, it takes root in our heart. Every tree is a poet, it is a book to delve into as if into a forest.
