The Municipality of Trapani and the Fardelliana Library celebrate International Book Day. “Book Explorers, learning about and having fun among stories and historical figures” is the first event celebrated on Tuesday 23 April at 9am at the Fardelliana Library.

Aimed at schools, this moment will offer students in some primary schools a theatrical visit to the library. The young people will be guided by illustrious figures who are part of the history of Trapani and literature, including Giovan Battista Fardella, Rosina Salvo and Samuel Butler, played respectively by the actor and writer Giampiero Montanti, by the writer Stefania La Via and by the professor Renato Lo Slave. Through the narration and interpretation of the characters, students will live an educational and engaging experience inside the library, discovering places, curiosities and anecdotes.

Furthermore, during the day, a institutional partnership between the Municipality of Trapani and the Provincial Health Authority of Trapani. Promoted by the Councilor for Culture, Rosalia d’Alì and by the Mayor Giacomo Tranchida in synergy with the Extraordinary Commissioner Ferdinando Croce, the partnership involves the delivery of a selection of books that will be made available to patients at the PO “Sant’Antonio Abate ” of Trapani. In parallel, the Provincial Health Authority, with the support of the Medical Directorate of the Unit, will set up a dedicated space inside the hospital, where hospitalized patients will be able to consult and borrow books.

The Mayor of Trapani Giacomo Tranchida and the Councilor for Culture Rosalia d’Alì share the meaning and importance of these initiatives, stating: “There is no better way to celebrate this day than opening the doors of the library to the little ones to let them discover, in a different and fun way, the places that preserve the knowledge and history of our city. We also believe it is important to “export” books outside the library to allow many to be able to use them.
Reading is not just an individual pleasure, but an experience that enriches our community as a whole. Through these initiatives, we want to encourage our citizens, young and adults, to explore the treasures of literature and discover the intrinsic value of knowledge.
The promotion of reading is one of our priorities in the cultural field, and we are happy to collaborate with schools and the Provincial Health Authority of Trapani to bring the beauty and pleasure of reading to schools and hospitals. This is a further step to increase the diffusion of the book in the city. Reading not only nourishes the mind but also the soul, and through these initiatives we continue to spread the Reading especially among young people
”.
