It was he himself, on that cold, almost soulless November afternoon, who fired the decisive blow, which managed to sedate Kimba – this is the name of the animal – and to allow get him safe and sound. The book it will come introducedfor the first time in Abruzzo, a Capistrello (AQ) next May 25th.

I chose Capistrello precisely for pay homage to Raffaele’s courage and to be able to share this story with his community.”

And it was just the art critic Vittorio Sgarbiwell-known television personality, commentator and politician, in his exceptional preface, to skilfully intertwine those news events with the extraordinary symbolic of the figure of the lion. The book, in fact, opens with the words of Sgarbi, who chooses to bring it “back to life”. medieval collection of hagiographic bibliographies by Jacopo da Varazzecompiled in the second half of the 1200s. Among those pages, the undertaking of is narrated Saint Jerome who, rather than run away, decided to welcome the wounded lion into his monastery, to heal his wounds and alleviate his suffering.
