PORDENONE – The meeting with the author Giuseppe Ragogna, who will present the book “Friuli. Stories of mountain rebirth”. Paola Dalle Molle will moderate. The initiative, promoted by the Circolo della Cultura e delle Arti of Pordenone, is part of “Percorsi: review of art, history and literature”.

This is a travel reportage into the wildest valleys of Friuli: from Cansiglio to Piancavallo, from Valcellina to Val Tramontina, from Val Colvera to Val d’Arzino, from Carnia to Canal del Ferro, from Val Resia to the Natisone Valleys . Stories of courageous resistance and mountain regeneration, despite the phenomena of marginalization and depopulation.

The author lets himself be carried away by the scent of “good news” that smells of optimism. The stories unfold with simplicity along the route taken in the field, with the backpack on the shoulder and the notebook in hand. Different identikits are thus intertwined: those who raise animals and transform milk into cheese and ricotta; those who grow medicinal plants in fields that are paintings by Van Gogh and Cézanne; those who keep ancient traditions alive with innovative practices; those who develop culture and digital works connected to the world; those who choose a secluded existence among silences, far from chaos. The mountain inhabitants are the vanguards of a rebirth movement.

Giuseppe Ragogna, journalist, former deputy director of Messaggero Veneto, is the author of some books on local history and economic and social analyses. After completing his professional cycle, he is involved in volunteering to talk about humanitarian activities in Italy and abroad, especially in Africa where he documents the work of some NGOs. As an observer and curious about the territories, he has written travel reports to discover forgotten corners of the Friulian valleys. With Gaspari Editore he published Questo nostri Friuli, a book that collects stories of innovation in the countryside. For two years he has been editing the column Il viandante for the weekly Il Friuli, with stories of the regeneration of abandoned villages and territories of our mountains. The journey into the wildest valleys of our region was the trigger for this book.
