In Catania on Saturday 11 May, in the “Theatre” room of the Palazzo della Cultura at 4.30 pm the first novel written by the photojournalist Donatella Turillo entitled “Mamita Sta Bene” by Algra Editore will be presented with an afterword by the Jazz Orchestra Director Roberta Giuffrida.. Moderated by the journalist Lorena Dolci, readings by the actress Carmela Sanfilippo. The event is included in the national May of Books 2024 campaign and sponsored by the Municipality of Catania.

This autobiographical novel tells the story of an experience lived at the age of twenty-seven, which has remained preserved since 1997 in a manuscript which in the Covid period transforms into a real book to be read in one sitting. An autobiographical story, with suspended emotions that envelop and involve the reader who is inevitably affected by the succession of events told.

An accident deep in Mexico, on the streets of Yucatan, an off-road vehicle that overturns and ends its journey at the bottom of a precipice. The night, the darkness, the loss of consciousness, the memory void upon awakening and then the mystery of the life force that emerges when everything seems lost and finished. A surreal setting, in a place where the fate of the world seems to have been predicted and explained millennia ago. The symbiosis between mother and daughter which becomes salvation for both in a unique relationship, built between the fragility of two hearts. He barefoot on the path of desperation, overcoming fear thanks to animal intuition, with the strength of his own being and that inner guiding voice, whispered by the silence. The spirit of survival accompanies every line of the story transforming it into a hymn to life, to smiles, to joy. Donatella Turillo was born in Catania on 15 December 1970, a journalist not by chance and a photographer by passion, she is a happy, curious, restless soul. She is a free spirit, who follows the bourgeois paths of “you don’t do things”, of social conventions, from which she has tried to free herself since she was a child. She studies literature and languages, the world has always been her secret refuge. She is active on social issues as well as a careful observer of human knowledge, she transforms her profound reading of human emotions into shots of her. Among his exhibitions: “Woman in Progress”, “Selfie, Virtual Desert”, “Senza Remore”, “Sogni Perduti” Museo Emilio Greco Catania, sponsored by the Municipality of Catania, “Rosso La Sera No al Femicidio” and “Wonder Time ” , “CoviDays places, people and Lockdown” .
