Palaverde experiences an intense and hard-fought Sunday with the match between Nutribullet Treviso Basket and Banco di Sardegna Sassari. Two teams looking for important points to save themselves on the 13th day of the Serie A Championship.
Balanced first half, with Treviso starting with determination and fighting for every ball, while Sassari maintains clarity in attack with effective management of the pace. After the first 10 minutes the score was tied at 18-18 but in the second quarter Dinamo Sassari took the lead, forcing the home team to chase. We go to halftime at 37-42. At the beginning of the second half Sassari pulled ahead again, taking advantage of some quick transitions and precision shooting from outside: the Sardinians led for most of the third quarter but Treviso did not give up and remained in their wake, preparing an overwhelming comeback from -14. In the last quarter the guests did not take advantage of the bonus situation and the consequent free throws in their favor and so TVB completed its comeback: layup by Weber, support by Pinkins and timeout for the Sardinians at 74-71. Buie freezes the over 4 thousand present with the stop and shot on the 24” siren, then Chillo, just before leaving the field for having reached the penalty limit, is ready along the baseline. The sprint finish is not for the faint of heart: Pullen is glacial with the clock stopped, Torresani sets Palaverde on fire with another triple, then Buie and Radosevic exchange a couple of triples (83-80). 56 seconds from the end Pullen scores at 83, Vincini steals the ball and in the reversal Buie sends the counter-overtaking bomb to the target (83-86, 19” from the last siren). So the free throw roulette begins. David hits 1/2, while Nate Johnson’s hand doesn’t shake. With a deficit of 4 points and with 10 seconds to play, Treviso appears from the charity line with Weber: the number 2 doesn’t make a mistake, but neither does Pullen on the other side. Torresani gives Nutribullet one last chance by scoring the 89-91 with 2 seconds to go; McGlynn makes it 1/2 and Weber’s hopeful shot from midcourt doesn’t go. Sassari wins with the result of 89-92. Olisevicius and his teammates will return to the Palaverde on Sunday 11 January against Varese. In between the away derby against Reyer Venezia, scheduled at Taliercio on Monday 5 January.
