“The state of the art”: 10 years of MAW

The art laboratory gallery MAW turns ten years of activity and to celebrate this important milestone it presents a double event dedicated to the languages ​​of contemporary art in relation to artificial intelligence.

Sunday 14 April at the SS Annunziata complex in Sulmona, first appointment at 5.30 pm with the meeting entitled The state of the art, the artist, us and artificial intelligence. After greetings from the mayor of the Municipality of Sulmona Gianfranco Di Piero, from the head teacher of the IIS “Ovidio” Caterina Fantauzzi and from the curator and co-founder of the MAW Italy Gualtieri, the courtyard of the Palazzo dell’Annunziata will host “experts representing significant research and planning on these themes”. Starting with Michele Gerace, lawyer and creator of School on Complexity, Daniela Cotimbo, art historian and founder of Re-Humanis cultural program and award dedicated to the relationship between contemporary art and artificial intelligence and Antonio Zimarino, art critic, contemporary art scholar and curator of the international exhibition Stills of Peace and the Penne Art Biennial.

Following, at 7 pm, the second appointment with contemporary art and its artistic productions in the exhibition Souls for tech. Souls for technology. Videodrome of Iranian glitch art set up in the space of the Chapel of the Body of Christ where it will be possible to admire works by the artists Niloufar Baniasadi, Reza Famori, Mohammad Alì Famorì, Sadegh Majlesi, Elnaz Mhammadì, Arezou Ramezani. To “discover an art form that finds a new interpretation in digital media” explains the press release MAW in presenting an exhibition where six video works integrate the random errors of the digital medium to demonstrate how technology guides and is in turn guided by artistic creation.

Appointments with which MAW intends not only to celebrate the first ten years of activity but also “to explore heterogeneous artistic languages ​​to investigate the problems of art” explain the founders Rino Di Pietro and Italia Gualtieri recalling the orientation that has always guided the gallery project art laboratory: “Openness to multi-unique stimuli with constant attention to the depth and authenticity of artistic truths”.
