“The Best Years”, in the name of music and memories

A 60-year journey back in time, to rediscover the music, television programmes, objects, fashions and news events that most affected our past. On Saturday 27 April at 9.25pm on Rai 1, the fourth appointment with “I Migliori Anni” will be broadcast, the variety show hosted by Carlo Conti, all in the name of memories and emotions, to make the public relive the magical atmospheres of the past, which they deserve to be experienced even by the younger generations. The guest singers in the program will give life to an evocative journey back through the history of music, performing the most famous songs of past decades. Also on stage are great names on the international scene, such as the American singer-songwriter Christopher Cross, winner of multiple Grammy Awards, the Scotsman Midge Ure, singer first of Visage and then of Ultravox, the Englishman Eric Burdon, leader of the Animals and since 1994 in ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’ and Lee John, voice and front-man of Imagination, a dance group responsible for hits such as ‘Just an illusion’, ‘Body Talk’ and ‘Music and lights’.
Representing the Italian scene instead, music icons such as the singer-songwriter Michele Zarrillo, Marcella Bella, Gigliola Cinquetti and Rosanna Fratello with their timeless successes, Zero Assoluto, the beat group Giuliano and Notturni.
If music is fundamental, ‘words’ are no less so: this time it’s up to the actor and director Vincenzo Salemme to tell his personal hit parade of characters, songs and objects that have marked his human and artistic journey. Words are also the protagonists of the funny moments entrusted to Maurizio Battista: the comedian with a very personal look will make you smile by talking about old habits imprinted in your memory, but now outdated. The objects of ‘The Best Years’ are also the protagonists of a fun interlude in the company of Giorgio Mastrota who, with his great power of persuasion, will describe them in an unusual and ironic way, taking the public back to the golden days of teleshopping .
A ‘chorus’ of 30 male and female dancers, wearing period clothing, will animate the hits of the various decades with their choreographies. A space also dedicated to the ‘Future Box’, the ‘time capsule’ in which are inserted the characters, objects and records (33 or 45 rpm) that have marked 60 years of our history and must absolutely not be missing from future generations.
The younger audience is actively present in the studio: in all the episodes a group of 60 girls and boys, aged between 18 and 24, with their inseparable mobile phones, send ‘live’ messages to the program, with comments and impressions : the most interesting messages can become a reason for meeting and/or discussion with the host and his guests on stage.
“I Migliori Anni” is based on a format created by Endemol Shine Italy Spa and Prime Time Rai Entertainment Directorate and distributed by Banijay Group. The direction is signed by Maurizio Pagnussat.
