On the occasion of Europe Day, the Municipality of Varese hosted a moment of discussion on values, visions and opportunities of the European context. The meeting, entitled Europe is us, organized in collaboration with the European School of Varese, had the aim of celebrating the day dedicated to peace and unity which started from the Schuman declaration, the first step towards the constitution of the European Union. The event was opened by the mayor Davide Galimberti who underlined the importance of Europe. Words then followed by the speech of Professor Vincenzo Salvatore of the University of Insubria, who, starting from Schuman’s declaration, illustrated the path taken to date by the European Union.
The many young people present from the European School, from the Model European Council course, then took turns in various interventions which underlined the theme of the centrality of young people within the EU, placing emphasis on the importance of their participation and citizenship active within the European Union. There was no shortage of musical moments and the performance of the Ode to Joy by the very young school choir.
