A breeder from Amaseno, Adalgisa Fabrizi aged 78, she was gored by a hoax and is now in very serious condition at San Camillo in Rome. It happened on the outskirts of the town, in the Celma area. The old woman, who with her family manages a farm of around 150 animals, had gone to the drinking trough area to distribute water and food, like every morning. But suddenly one of the buffaloes broke away from the herd and, running, headed towards the farmer, goring her. The woman fell disastrously to the ground, suffering a serious injury to her carotid artery and widespread injuries to her abdomen. The other animals became enraged and some even trampled on the helpless breeder, who was lying on the ground.
To call The family members who were alerted by the woman’s screams came to the rescue. A 118 ambulance arrived on site and, given the seriousness of the situation, requested the intervention of an air ambulance. The patient was transferred to Rome and is hospitalized with a reserved prognosis at the San Camillo hospital. Here she underwent a very delicate surgery. The prognosis is guarded.
The Carabinieri also intervened on site and will send an information to the Prosecutor’s Office in the next few hours.
The accident happened in one of the main buffalo hubs in Lazio where around 14 thousand buffaloes are raised (generally considered tame and non-aggressive animals) with a population of approximately 4 thousand people, many of which are involved in the processing of milk and, in particular, the famous mozzarella.
