5 years have passed since the death of HE Mons. Domenico Padovano (bishop emeritus of the diocese of Conversano-Monopoli, former auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Bari-Bitonto), which occurred in 2019.

Today, May 10, marks the fifth anniversary of the death of the late Monsignor Domenico Padovano, Bishop of our diocese from 1987 to 2016.

We want to remember him during the Eucharistic Celebrations, grateful for his life spent in our diocesan Church.

We ask the Lord that he may experience the fullness of joy in contemplating His face and from heaven, we are certain, he intercedes for all of us.

+ Giuseppe Favale, bishop

Born in Mola di Bari on 27 September 1940, he was ordained a priest on 29 June 1965.

He obtained a degree in pedagogy from the University of Bari.

In his long priestly and episcopal ministry, we remember his service as rector of the Archbishop’s Seminary of Bari and his service as parish priest of the Church of S. Maria Maggiore in Gioia del Colle.

Elected titular bishop of Mazaca and auxiliary bishop of Bari on 30 September 1982, he was ordained bishop on 24 October 1982, consecrating Archbishop Andrea Mariano Magrassi, OSB, co-consecrating Archbishop Giuseppe Carata and Archbishop Michele Mincuzzi.

On 13 February 1987 he was appointed bishop of Conversano-Monopoli, a role he held until 2016.

In the Apulian Episcopal Conference he was the contact person for the Commission for Culture and Social Communications.
