Eminem he was killed. Or at least that’s what the rapper wants us to believe in the trailer for an alleged TV series that he published on his social media to announce the release of the new one album. In “Detroit Murder Files”, this is the name of the invented true crime TV series, the rapper’s alter ego, slim Shady, is killed and the journalist who reports the event ventures the motive for the murder: the rude texts. In the clip you can also see Eminem’s rapper friend and collaborator, 50 Cent, who gives his testimony: «He wasn’t a friend, – he reports – he was a psychopath». The singer himself also appears in an interview in the trailer, first with his face obscured and then coming out into the open for lying down to get a bottle of water: “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim”, he comments.
Album still top secret
The title of the rapper’s twelfth album is shown at the end of the trailer, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)”, and its release date is scheduled for this summer. Certainly, in the new work there will be the inseparable producer Dr. Dre, who discovered the Detroit rapper in the nineties after listening to a demo sent to his label Aftermath Entertainment.
Dr. Dre had already anticipated his pupil’s presence on the album in March, during the Jimmy Kimmel show. «Eminem is working on a new album that will be released this year – he said – I’ll go listen to the album tomorrow. Eminem is someone who doesn’t spoil much, so tomorrow is the first time I’ll listen to the whole album. There will also be some of my songs.”
The alter ego Slim Shady
Slim Shady has been the protagonist of Eminem’s rhymes since 1997 with the two albums of the same name “Slim Shady EP” and “The Slim Shady LP”, released two years later. His lyrics immediately caused a sensation for their violence and unscrupulousness, so much so that the rapper he immediately became a sort of anti-hero, equal to the controversial Marilyn Manson of the time. The most significant songs with Slim are “Guilty Conscience”, “97 Bonnie and Clyde” and “Kill You”.
