He remained for hours in front of the emergency room of the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Perugia and jumped every time the doors opened, hoping to see the face and friendly hands of his owner who had had a sudden health problem. The photo and story of Francesco, a small mixed breed, moved social media thanks to Alessandra, an employee of the health facility. «We have a lot to learn from dogs – he commented in a post relaunched on the Umbrian hospital page -. Love, loyalty, taking care of those you love day after day, in everyday life, with small gestures. Above all: you have to take care of those you love. Love must be nourished.”
Who is
Francesco, in the historic center of Perugia, is a sort of mascot. Every day he walks through the streets of the city and is pampered by residents and traders as well as being photographed by many tourists. The Perugians know him as the “dog with the watch” because he usually wears one on his right paw. His owner sets a ringtone for him and when he hears it he understands that it is time to return home where he loves to eat the same favorite dish as his owner: liver with sautéed onion.
