Sassari. After the great success of last year, which despite the rain saw Piazza d’Italia invaded by the public, the concert-event returns on Saturday 11 May, completely free, wanted for the second time by the municipal administration of Sassari, awaiting the great beauty festival scheduled for May 12th. Starting from 6pm, in the main square of the city, many artists, among the most representative and requested of the island’s musical and entertainment scene, will be gathered on stage for “Sassari in Festa”. Conceived and conducted by Giuliano Marongiu, the event will see on stage a rich cast of protagonists from the regional artistic panorama and a selection of island folk groups who will enliven the spaces dedicated to traditional dances with the participation of Ottana, Oliena, Sedilo, Sindia, Olbia San Pantaleo, Macomer.

Followed by the concert-show: an opportunity to listen to all-time hits and preview new releases. It will be an event capable of mixing music and entertainment, comedy and popular culture, including hits from a timeless repertoire that each of the protagonists involved can boast and new records, in addition to duets and unreleased collaborations between the numerous artists involved.

Piero Marras, Maria Luisa Congiu, Baz, Le Balentes, Giuliano Rassu, Cecilia Concas, Luciano Pigliaru, Beppe Dettori & Giovannino Porcheddu, Alessandro Catte, Clara Farina, Antonio Tanca, the Paesaggi Sonori of Roberto Tangianu & Peppino Bande will perform on stage, Enzo Mugoni, the Sassari expression of Zeppara’s identity, Emanuele Garau, the violinist Gianbattista Longu.

During the evening, the Lifetime Achievement Award will also be awarded to Daniele Cossellu, historic voice of the Bitti Tenores “Remunnu ‘e Locu”, among the guests of the evening and protagonists of the latest Sanremo Festival together with Mahmood. The famous interpreter of the oldest song turns 92 and for 62 editions he has continuously graced the stage of the Cavalcata Sarda, giving prestige to a top-level career dotted with important collaborations such as the one undertaken with Peter Gabriel. There will be space for choral singing with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Usini Choir and the voices of the Cantori di via Majore and of Su Cunsonu di Thiesi.

The initiative precedes the big day of the Sardinian Cavalcade which will liven up the streets of the center with the highly anticipated parade of thousands of people in costume, coming from all parts of the island, with the passage and display of traditional masks from the hinterland and their ancient charm, with the hundreds of knights and riders on horseback who will recall the first historic edition of 1899 and the passage of 120 women in traditional dress from all over Sardinia.
