“Nine years after the first protest against feminicides, a woman continues to be killed every 35 hours in Argentina.” This was denounced by the feminist organization ‘Ni una menos’ (Not one less) which called for a new demonstration against the government of Javier Milei on Monday in Buenos Aires.

Other organizations and NGOs also joined the demonstration, held in front of the Congress building, accompanied by trade unions, deputies and senators.

According to a report by the Latin American Team for Gender Justice (Ela), a feminist organization that promotes the rights of girls, adolescents and women, Milei’s ultra-liberal government has cut by 33% the allocations for policies that aim to reduce gender inequality.

Also at the center of the protest is the demand for justice for the ‘lesbicide’ of three women which occurred in Buenos Aires weeks ago, the denunciation of the ‘economic violence’ of the government and the dismissals and the opposition to the so-called ‘Basic Law’ of the executive on deregulation and privatizations.

Between January and May this year there have already been 127 victims of femicide. That is to say, in 152 days, 127 people were killed because they were women, lesbians or transvestites, according to the latest report from the Feminicide Observatory directed by the civil association La casa del encuentro.
