A video posted by Donald Trump’s Truth account shows hypothetical headlines talking about a “unified Reich” if the tycoon wins the 2024 US presidential election, language that has drawn fierce criticism from Joe Biden’s campaign.
“What will happen after Donald Trump’s victory? What is the future of America?”, asks a voice-over in the 30-second clip showing a series of fictitious headlines talking about US prosperity: “Economic boom!” , “The border is closed”, but also “Creation of a unified Reich”. No direct reference to the Nazis is made in the clip, but the word is commonly used in reference to the Third Reich of Nazi Germany led by Adolf Hitler. Other references in the video, which appear to be multiple pieces of text copied and pasted to fill the “newspaper” background, mention World War I. The title “unified Reich” appears to refer to the unification of Germany in 1871.
